All Ages Welcome

Whether your child took a fall or you cracked a tooth at dinner, we are here for your whole family.

If you are reading this with a throbbing tooth, a broken front tooth, or a child who took a hit on the playground, the first thing to know is this: you can call us right now. 540-586-8080. You will reach a real person, and we will do everything we can to see you the same day.

A dental emergency is no time to drive an hour to Roanoke or Lynchburg. You have a dental home right here in Bedford, on East Main Street, and that is exactly what an emergency appointment is for. Whether your problem is a sudden severe toothache, a tooth that cracked while you were eating, a knocked-out tooth, a lost crown, or swelling that came on overnight — you call, and we make room.

When you walk in, the first job is getting you out of pain. Dr. Maharaj will look at the tooth, take any quick X-rays needed to understand what is happening, and explain in plain language what is going on and what your options are. You will not be rushed into a decision. You will know what is urgent, what can wait, and what each path looks like.

A lot of dental emergencies are simpler to fix than they feel in the moment. A crown that came off can often go back on the same visit. A tooth pain that has been keeping you up may turn out to be something we can address quickly. Even a tooth that has been knocked out can sometimes be saved if you get to us fast — within an hour or two is the goal.

If something happens after hours, our voicemail will give you guidance on what to do until we open. In the meantime, the most important thing is not to wait. Dental problems almost never get better on their own, and the sooner we see you, the more options you have. Save our number in your phone now: 540-586-8080.

Emergency Dental FAQs

What should I do if I knocked out a tooth?

Pick it up by the crown (the chewing part), not the root. Rinse it gently with water — do not scrub it. If you can, slip it back into the socket and bite down on a clean cloth. If that is not possible, tuck it into a small container of milk or your own saliva and call us right away. Time matters here.

Is a bad toothache really an emergency?

If the pain is severe, keeping you up at night, or coming with swelling, fever, or a bad taste, yes — call us. Those are signs of an infection that needs to be addressed quickly. Even a milder toothache that has lasted more than a day or two deserves a call.

Do you charge extra for an emergency appointment?

No. There is no separate emergency fee. You pay for the exam and any treatment you actually need, the same as you would at any other visit.
