Meet Dr. Maharaj

Hi, I’m Dr. Deepak Maharaj. If you’ve been putting off the dentist, or you’ve had a rough experience somewhere else, I want you to know you’re in good hands here. My job isn’t to lecture you or rush you through. It’s to sit down, listen to what’s actually going on, and help you figure out the next right step for your mouth and your life.

I’ve been practicing dentistry for more than twelve years, and the longer I do this, the more I’m convinced of one thing: most people don’t need a bigger sales pitch. They need someone who will slow down, explain things in plain English, and treat them the same way I’d want my own family treated.

Why Bedford

Bedford has the kind of community feel that’s getting harder to find — people know their neighbors, look out for each other, and expect a handshake to mean something. That’s exactly the kind of place I wanted to put down roots and practice the way I’ve always believed dentistry should be done: unhurried, honest, and built on real relationships.

I chose to open Bedford Family Dentistry because I wanted to be the dentist who remembers your kids’ names, who checks in on how your back has been holding up in the chair, and who tells you the truth — even when the truth is “you don’t need that procedure, let’s just keep an eye on it.”

What you can expect from me

When you sit in my chair, here’s what I promise:

• I’ll listen first. Before I pick up an instrument, I want to hear what’s bothering you, what you’re worried about, and what you’re hoping for.
• I’ll go gently. If you’re nervous, tell me. We’ll go at your pace, with plenty of breaks, and I’ll narrate what I’m doing so nothing catches you off guard.
• I’ll be straight with you about cost. You’ll know what something costs and why before we do it — no surprises on the way out.
• I’ll show you your options. There’s almost always more than one way to handle a problem, and I want you to pick the one that fits your life and your budget.
• I’ll bring real experience to the chair. From routine cleanings to implants, complex root canals, and cosmetic work, you’re getting a dentist who’s done it many times before.

A little about my background

I earned my dental degree from the University of the West Indies and then completed an advanced residency at the Cleveland Dental Institute at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. That residency was hospital-based, which means I spent it caring for patients with complicated medical histories — heart conditions, diabetes, transplants, you name it. It taught me how to think carefully, plan thoroughly, and never treat a mouth without considering the whole person attached to it.

Since then I’ve continued training in the areas patients ask me about most: dental implants (Fellowship, International Dental Implant Association), orthodontics for general practice (Associate Fellowship, Academy of GP Orthodontics), and cosmetic Botox and dermal fillers (International Academy of Facial Aesthetics). I’ve also owned and led a practice before, which is part of why I care so much about building this one the right way — for the team, and for you.
