Are you accepting new patients?
Yes — we are always welcoming new patients of all ages, from toddlers to grandparents. Give us a call at 540-586-8080 or send a message through our site whenever you are ready.
What insurance do you accept?
We accept most major dental insurance plans including Delta Dental, Cigna, MetLife, Aetna, United Healthcare, Guardian, Humana, and BlueCross BlueShield. If you do not see your plan listed, call us — we work with many additional providers and are happy to check for you.
What if I do not have dental insurance?
You are still welcome here. We offer the Virginia Dental Club membership starting at $259 per year, which covers your preventive care (cleanings, exams, X-rays) and gives you 20% off all other treatments. We also accept cash, check, and all major credit cards, and we offer flexible payment plans for larger treatments.
How do I schedule an appointment?
You can call us at 540-586-8080, fill out the contact form on our site, or walk in for urgent needs. We will work with your schedule to find a time that fits.
Do you see children?
We do, and we enjoy it. We provide cleanings, exams, fluoride treatments, sealants (a protective coating for molars), and age-appropriate guidance on brushing and flossing. Many Bedford-area families bring the whole household in on the same day.
What should I do in a dental emergency?
Call us right away at 540-586-8080. We offer same-day emergency appointments whenever possible. Whether it is a knocked-out tooth, a severe toothache, or a broken tooth, getting seen quickly gives us the best chance of a good outcome for you.
How often should I visit the dentist?
For most people, a checkup and professional cleaning every six months keeps your smile healthy and catches small issues before they become bigger ones. If you have gum disease (an infection of the tissue around your teeth) or certain other conditions, you may benefit from more frequent visits — Dr. Maharaj will let you know.
Do you offer teeth whitening?
Yes. We offer professional-grade whitening that is safer and produces more consistent results than over-the-counter strips or trays. We can walk you through what to expect and help you decide if it is a good fit.
What is a dental crown, and when might I need one?
A crown is a custom-made cap that fits over a damaged tooth to restore its shape, strength, and appearance. You might need one for a cracked tooth, a large cavity that a standard filling cannot support, or after root canal treatment (a procedure to save a tooth with an infected nerve). Dr. Maharaj will explain your options clearly if a crown is recommended.
Will my dental treatment be comfortable?
Your comfort is something we take seriously. We use modern numbing techniques, work gently, and check in with you throughout every procedure. Most patients tell us their visit was much more comfortable than they expected — and we take that as a real compliment.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash, personal checks, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. For larger treatment plans, we offer flexible payment options so you can spread the cost over time.
Where are you located?
You will find us at 308 East Main Street in downtown Bedford, Virginia 24523. There is a free private parking lot right next to the building, so you do not need to hunt for a spot on Main Street. We serve families from Bedford, Forest, Montvale, and across the Blue Ridge area.
Do you offer sedation for nervous patients?
We understand that some patients need extra help feeling at ease. Call our office and we will talk through the comfort options available to you. Dr. Maharaj has extensive experience helping patients who need additional support to feel relaxed during treatment.
